Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the LocalxPress platform — including our website, mobile application, and any related services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the platform.

These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, reporters, and partner channels. "Platform" refers to all LocalxPress products and services. "We", "us", and "our" refer to LocalxPress.

Use of the Platform

LocalxPress is a free, publicly accessible hyperlocal news platform. You may use it to read, share, and engage with news content. You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account.

You agree to use the platform only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use of the platform. You are responsible for ensuring that any use of the platform complies with applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

User Accounts

When you create an account on LocalxPress, you are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account.
• Ensuring the information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms, contain false information, or are inactive for an extended period. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@localxpress.co.in.

Content & Intellectual Property

All original content on the LocalxPress platform — including articles, photographs, graphics, and design — is owned by LocalxPress or its respective content partners (reporters and channels), and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

• You may share individual articles via social media or messaging, provided you clearly attribute them to LocalxPress and do not alter the content.
• You may not reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit any content from LocalxPress without prior written permission.
• Reporters and channels retain ownership of their original written content but grant LocalxPress a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and display it on our platform and related channels.
• If you believe any content infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact legal@localxpress.co.in with details of the alleged infringement.

Reporter & Channel Terms

Reporters and channel partners who publish content through LocalxPress agree to the following additional terms:

• Accuracy: You are solely responsible for ensuring that all content you submit is factually accurate, fairly presented, and does not mislead readers.
• Originality: You represent that all submitted content is your original work and does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
• Editorial standards: You agree to adhere to LocalxPress editorial guidelines, which include standards for sourcing, verification, and presentation.
• No defamation: You must not publish content that is defamatory, libellous, or likely to damage the reputation of any individual or organisation without factual basis.
• Sensitive content: You must not publish content that incites violence, promotes discrimination, or violates the dignity of any individual or group.
• Review process: All articles are subject to editorial review before publication. LocalxPress reserves the right to decline, edit for clarity, or remove any content at its discretion.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension of reporter access and removal of all associated content.

Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited on the LocalxPress platform:

• Submitting false, misleading, or fabricated news content (misinformation or disinformation).
• Impersonating any person, organisation, or public figure.
• Using the platform to harass, threaten, or abuse any individual.
• Attempting to gain unauthorised access to our systems, databases, or other users' accounts.
• Uploading malicious code, viruses, or any material that may harm the platform or its users.
• Scraping, crawling, or automated data extraction without prior written consent.
• Using the platform for commercial solicitation or spam.
• Publishing content that violates any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against violations, including account suspension, content removal, and referral to law enforcement where applicable.

Disclaimers

LocalxPress provides news content on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding:

• The completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of any content on the platform.
• The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform.
• The accuracy of third-party content submitted by reporters or channel partners.

Opinions expressed in articles are those of the respective authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of LocalxPress. Readers should exercise their own judgement when relying on information published on the platform.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LocalxPress and its affiliates, directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

• Your use of, or inability to use, the platform.
• Any content published on the platform by reporters or channel partners.
• Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data.
• Any errors or omissions in content published on the platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the platform shall not exceed INR 1,000 (One Thousand Indian Rupees).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including:

• Violation of these Terms of Service.
• Conduct that we reasonably believe harms other users, third parties, or the platform.
• Requests by law enforcement or government authorities.
• Extended inactivity of an account.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Provisions of these terms that by their nature should survive termination shall do so, including ownership provisions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jharkhand, India.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users via email and post a prominent notice on the platform for at least 7 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of updated terms constitutes your acceptance of those terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you must stop using the platform.
